Ever complain, wanting to upgrade your kitchen? I do sometimes. I miss my Kitchen Aid mixer, baking paraphernalia, “normal” cabinets, a split sink with a sprayer, and numerous other amenities I no longer have.
Then I see what some of the indigenous women use to cook with and suddenly count my blessings. Below is a slideshow of photos taken of kitchens in various indigenous communities.
Simple kitchens, built outside since the heat and humidity of the area don’t allow for indoor cooking.

And, yes, we’ve eaten food so kindly, generously, and most often sacrificially prepared for us, their special guests.
